Our Hollywood Scarlets are our WFTDA chartered travel team, who represent the Angel City Derby Girls nationally in WFTDA sanctioned bouts and tournaments for WFTDA rankings. | Our Rocket queens are our local travel team who represent the Angel City Derby Girls regionally, and compete with WFTDA and non-WFTDA teams within the Western Region. |
Our subpool consists of our pool of bout-ready skaters who have passed their WFTDA minimum skills, participate in scrimmages, and primarily make up our home game rosters. Subpool skaters continue to learn advanced skating skills, and refine their grasp of roller derby rules and strategies.
The Fresh Meat program is where our New Recruits move on to once they've mastered basic skating skills and determine that they're in love with roller derby! Fresh Meat learn the basics of roller derby skills like more advanced skating, hitting and blocking, and basic strategy. Skaters complete our Fresh Meat program when they can pass the WFTDA minimum skills.
New Recruits are where brand new skaters enter the Angel City family. Skaters learn the basics about equipment, the league, and learn basic skating skills. This gives skaters the chance to learn whether Angel City and roller derby are a good fit for them, before making longer term financial and time commitments.
Our Referees and Non-Skating Officials range in experience and skill from brand new recruits who are learning the basics of refereeing and officiating, to highly experienced referees who work at the highest levels of tournament play in the country. They're a crucial part of the organization that provides staffing for bouts, scrimmages and practices, as well as working with the league to ensure all skaters have a thorough understanding of the rules that govern our sport.
Not everyone in the ACDG family is a skater! The lifeblood of our league are the people who manage the day to day business of our league, including financial management, event management, marketing and public relations, website and social marketing, and coaching and training. Many skaters move on to become crucial members of our league in many ways!
